2nd day in Athens: The Acropolis Museum and the area of Koukaki

The Acropolis Museum, located at the foothills of the Acropolis, is considered a gem of modern architecture in the city of Athens. The architects of the new Acropolis Museum, which opened to the public in 2009, aimed to create a contrast between the classical architecture of the Acropolis Hills and the modern one of the Acropolis Museum.

Fun fact: The architects located the Caryatids at the exact same position as they used to be at the Acropolis, so the natural lighting accents the monuments the same way. My recommendation would be to hire a guide, so that you get the most out of the museum experience.

After the Acropolis Museum, continue your stroll at the Dionysiou Aeropageitou street that ends up at the Philapappou Hill. There you can find the jail that the Greek philosopher Socrates was prisoned, known for the quote "True knowledge exists knowing that you know nothing". At the Philipappou Hill, greek out over the views of the whole Athens!

But I am sure you would already be hungry enough for a brunch. Walk only 6' and you will be at the area of Koukaki, where you can eat brunch at Riza-Riza. After you explore the outskirts of the Acropolis Museum, it is time to explore the greek krasadika, where you can enjoy bulk greek wine and mezedes, meaning greek tapas. The best place to do so is Avli . There you will definitely encounter young people, drinking and laughing. And if you want to taste the best pizza, grab a slice from Meno Male.

And there goes another day in Athens! Many more corners and flavores are about to come. And of course, do not hesitate to send me your ideas and suggestions. See you soon!
